Baker Valley Vector Control

Larviciding

BVVCD spends a significant amount of time targeting mosquitoes in the larval stage. It is much easier to target mosquitoes in the larval stage than in the adult stage, when they become much more mobile.

BVVCD Field technicians travel throughout the district and inspect larval sites. If enough larvae are found, the crew will apply a larvicide that will be the most effective in that specific area.

One major larval source in town is storm drains. BVVCD applies a larvicide to the storm drains in Baker City throughout the mosquito season to prevent mosquitoes from hatching.
